Collaboration with Companies
Collaboration with companies is facilitated by the KMA Technology Platform (KMA being the Czech acronym for the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics). Its activities were recently featured in an article in Žurnál Online and covered by major Czech news platforms like seznam.cz or novinky.cz. (We hope the automatic translation will do justice to the content of the article.)
Currently, the KMA Technology Platform is successfully developing partnerships with the following companies:
Bellmer Czech s.r.o.
Bellmer has taken over the original business of the company Papcel in Litovel. The Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics collaborates with Bellmer on the development of a fully automated disassembly line for starch preparation for the paper industry using recycled wastepaper.
ELDIS Pardubice, s.r.o.
Our department partners with ELDIS, a leading Czech producer of active radar systems, to improve methods for detection of objects in airspace. The industrial-technological Czechoslovak Group (CSG), of which ELDIS is a member, envisions a better and safer world. We believe that the cooperation with our department can contribute to moving CSG closer to that goal.
Mubea, spol. s r.o.
In collaboration with Mubea, the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics focuses on significantly improving the monitoring of the continuous seam welding process, particularly through the automatic analysis of image data. Mubea is a German family-owned company with over a century of tradition, producing key components for leading automotive brands worldwide.
OEZ s.r.o.
In the field of electrical engineering, the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics works with OEZ, a member of the Siemens multinational group. OEZ is a comprehensive manufacturer and developer of products and services in the field of low-voltage electrical circuits. Our joint efforts target an ambitious optimization challenge – optimizing the production flow of an entire manufacture hall for circuit breakers and fuse systems.
ON SEMICONDUCTOR CZECH REPUBLIC, s.r.o.
Company onsemi CZ is a technological leader specializing in the development and manufacturing of semiconductors and chips. Our department cooperates with onsemi on optimal control of the chip manufacturing process. The collaboration extends to the academic level, with onsemi offering topics for student theses, internships, and scholarship programs.
PLASTIKA a.s.
The Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics contributes its expertise also to companies involved in the plastics processing industry. We have been cooperating with PLASTIKA in Kroměříž for several years, successfully completing a production automation project funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. Within this project, we developed a learning software robot with collaborative features that detects anomalies in process data in real-time. Our joint efforts are ongoing across several projects even after the grant’s completion.
Správa železnic, státní organizace
Our department also works with state organizations. We collaborate with Správa železnic (i.e., the supervisor of the Czech railway infrastructure), a member of UIC (International Union of Railways) and CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies), on a system for identifying the root causes of delays in passenger trains. This task involves an interesting diagnosis of a process defined on a discrete graph.
Škoda Auto a.s.
The Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applications of Mathematics cooperates with Škoda Auto to support mutual technology and knowledge transfer in education, as well as scientific and applied research for the automotive industry, with a particular focus on strategic topics. As part of this collaboration, we also inform students about career opportunities at Škoda Auto.
TENZOVÁHY, s.r.o.
TENZOVAHY is a small company specializing in the weighing of vehicles in motion. Over its thirty-year history, it has delivered hundreds of static and dynamic scales to both domestic and international markets. In collaboration with our department, the company aims to significantly innovate the vehicle weighing process by integrating data from video analysis of moving vehicles with their scale readings, enabling much more accurate weight estimation.
