Description

The aim of the thesis is to analyse the relationship between vehicle speed and accident occurrence using methods of Functional Data Analysis (FDA). The student will process speed profiles obtained from GPS measurements and link them with available traffic accident data. Appropriate data preprocessing, modelling, and visualization of the relationships between speed patterns and accident probability will be carried out. The results will be interpreted in terms of identifying road segments or driving patterns associated with an increased risk of accidents.
